Launch Notes

Order Automatica launched on 4 September 2026. This page is the day-one snapshot so later patches have something to differ from. Developer: New Beings (Mickey Sanchez). Publishers: New Beings, better. publishing, Comma 49. Console ports: Draw Distance. Pitch: a dark tactical roguelite autobattler on a 3x3 ritual grid. “Like chess with demons.”

  • Editions: Base game; Supporter Edition adds the Brendan McCracken soundtrack.
  • Demo: Still free on Steam if you want the teaching build.

What 1.00 contains

Publisher launch copy and Steam news agree on the counts:

SystemLaunch count
Player units20
Enemy units17
Items19
Cell effects18 (9 positive, 9 negative)
Indulgences24
Curses9
Steam achievements19

Ranks on the tarot select screen: Initiate, Penitent, Adept, with extra modes such as Serpent’s Arena. Achievements follow the same ladder (First / Second / Third Degree for each rank, plus hidden cards like Knower Of Chaos).

Systems that define the launch build

  • Preparation is the only interactive phase. Fights run automatically.
  • Essence does not carry between shops.
  • Units resurrect as they were at the end of the last preparation.
  • Distill turns extra units or items into a different item.
  • Hold parks a unit between battles.
  • Full controller support (the old Steam Deck mouse trick is no longer required).
  • Steam Cloud saves on PC.
  • Single-player only. No second human player.

If any of those sentences stop being true after a patch, this page will say so and the updates hub will carry the diff.

Languages and ratings

Interface and subtitles: English, Simplified Chinese, Polish, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean. PEGI 7 / Everyone 10+ style ratings depending on region. This wiki localizes English, Japanese, Korean, and Traditional Chinese.

What we are not claiming

We are not claiming a 90+ Metacritic week. Steam’s launch review sample was small and Positive. We are not claiming 20 named units all appear in every shop. The Codex is an unlock grid; play ranks to fill it. We are not claiming cooperative play, a season pass, or daily login codes. Those belong to other genres.

Where to go from here

New players: Getting Started, then grid and positioning. Returning demo players: skim shop, Distill, and merge for anything that changed since 0.9, then jump to the unit tier list. Collectors: links for Discord and publisher channels.

Accessibility flags on Steam at launch were also real: custom volume, mouse-only option, playable at your own pace, no timed input, save anytime. Preparation has no clock. You can read every tooltip. That is why the controls page is short on hotkeys and long on cursor speed.

Soundtrack tracks listed on the DLC page (Cathedron, The Hit, Haunted Halls, The Return, NIN3) are optional. They do not change Distill. The pixel art and the 3x3 board are the product.

If you are coming from the itch.io HTML5 demo, expect tighter enemy ranks, a finished tarot select screen, and console UI. Do not expect a new genre. You still place portraits, spend Essence, and watch the boards fight. The ranks walkthrough is the post-demo climb; this page is only the receipt for what 4 September put on store shelves.

Keep a copy of these counts. When a patch adds a 21st unit or retires a Curse, the updates hub will log the delta against this snapshot instead of rewriting history.

The ritual is live. Spend the Essence.
