Order Automatica synergy builds

A synergy in Order Automatica is a sentence the whole board can say. These five sentences work on the 4 September 2026 launch roster. They assume you already know attack order and cardinal adjacency from grid and positioning and that you spend Essence instead of hoarding it.

Pick one lane per rank. Distill portraits that belong to a different sentence. Substitutes are listed so a missing S-tier name does not end the run.

1. Row graveyard (Hermit)

Sentence: “I die and the row fills with bodies.”

• Core: Hermit or any on-death row summoner.
• Support: Life Holder adjacent to the summoner, a tank in cell 1 so the summoner lives long enough to be targeted on your terms, Poison if you want the fish in the shop phase.
• Placement: Leave empty cells in the summoner’s row. Do not greed a 1-cost unit into those holes.
• Items: Extra on-death spawns, Disposable if you plan to Discard a leftover copy.
• Indulgence: Sell-gold if you cycle extra spawners; quiet auras otherwise.
• Fails when: Heavy Stone occupies the empty tile you needed. Switch to the tank lane for that fight.

2. Adjacent engine (Madame + Imp)

Sentence: “Death and battle-start fire twice.”

• Core: Madame in cell 5 (or any tile with two cardinal neighbors). Imp as one neighbor if his adjacent damage is pointed at the enemy cluster.
• Support: Any unit whose ability you are happy to see twice. Life Holder as the other neighbor is a safe Initiate pair.
• Placement: Plus-shape. Corners waste Madame.
• Items: Poison on Madame if the double-trigger is worth a shop-phase death. Taunt on a different body so Madame is not the first portrait punched unless you want that.
• Fails when: You only own Madame and four empty tiles. She needs friends. Buy friends before you buy her a second item.

3. Coin pig (economy)

Sentence: “I level up, I print Essence, I buy the real board next shop.”

• Core: Pig. Merge him. Take the level-up Indulgence if it appears.
• Support: Baker for start-of-prep stats, any cheap copies you can merge to trigger Pig again.
• Placement: Pig is not cell 1. Hide him in 7-9 behind tanks you bought with his coins.
• Items: Nothing that kills him. Empty slots are fine; Rotten Egg Curses are the enemy.
• Fails when: You treat Pig as a fighter and park him in cell 1. He will die, and the economy dies with him.

4. Poison funeral

Sentence: “The important death happens in preparation.”

• Core: Any Upon Death unit plus Poison.
• Support: Distill leftovers into more death items. Hold is for the next corpse, not for the tank.
• Placement: After the shop-phase kill, the spawns occupy tiles. Leave room. Then put a living tank in cell 1 so the corpses are not the front line unless they are bulky.
• Fails when: You Poison the only body that could soak cell 1. Read shop, Distill, and merge before you click the skull.

5. True Cell sniper

Sentence: “Cell 5 chips the enemy before anyone else moves.”

• Core: Book of the True Cell on a unit that is actually standing in cell 5.
• Support: A tank in 1-2 so the sniper is not also the soak. Column buffs in the middle column (4-5-6) to stack with the book.
• Placement: Non-negotiable cell 5. If a stone occupies 5, Distill the book or wait a fight.
• Fails when: The book sits on cell 7 because the shop was busy. That is a wasted S-tier item, not a bad rank.

Mixing lanes

You can mix 3 with anything: Pig pays for Madame, Hermit, or the sniper. You should not mix 1 and 5 if both want cell 5 and empty tiles in conflicting places. You should not mix 2 and 4 unless you meant to Poison Madame. When two S-tier portraits contradict, Distill one. Split boards are how Adept snuffs candles.

Enemy boards that fill rows punish lane 1. Enemy boards with one giant portrait punish lane 5 if your chip cannot finish the tank. Swap using the unit tier list and the item tier list. Rank-specific pressure is in the ranks walkthrough.
