Order Automatica Guides

How to play, how to place, and how to keep the last candle alive.

Guides Hub

This hub is the map for every Order Automatica tutorial on the wiki. The game looks tiny until the first shop expires with unused Essence, a Curse drops a stone on your only empty cell, and both candles go dark. Start with Getting Started if you have not finished an Initiate honorable victory, then move into grid and positioning the moment you care about attack order.

What these guides assume

Order Automatica launched on 4 September 2026 as a single-player tactical roguelite autobattler. You never click during the fight itself. Preparation is the whole game: buy units, park them on nine numbered cells, attach items, trigger Distill, and spend Essence before it vanishes. The opposing grid uses the same rules. Win enough battles to snuff the enemy candles; lose too many of yours and the ritual collapses.

The ranks walkthrough covers Initiate, Penitent, and Adept. The shop, Distill, and merge guide is the one to open when you keep rerolling into nothing. Candles and Curses is for players who greed every Draw Again. Controls exists because mouse, gamepad, and Steam Deck all work, but the cursor habits from the demo year still matter.

How to use the hub

  1. Learn the loop in Getting Started.
  2. Internalize cell numbers and adjacency in grid and positioning.
  3. Stop wasting gold with shop, Distill, and merge.
  4. Climb with the ranks walkthrough.
  5. Compare your board against the unit tier list and item tier list.
  6. Steal a plan from synergy builds instead of forcing a random shop.
  7. If you have not bought the game yet, read the launch review first.
  8. When the floor is doing something, open cell effects.

Player pain points we wrote toward

New players search how to play, how merging works, why a unit attacked the wrong portrait, and how to beat the jump from Initiate to Penitent. Demo veterans search Distill recipes, Poison timing, and whether Book of the True Cell still wants cell 5. Console players search controller maps and Steam Deck notes. Those questions live in the pages linked above rather than in a single overflowing article.

When a YouTube video already walks the same beat, the matching guide embeds that video in the middle of the article and then adds shop rules the footage skips. We do not invent video IDs, and we do not stack two players on one page.

After any guide, jump to Indulgences if your persistent upgrade is carrying the run, or to launch notes if you are still mapping the 20-unit launch roster. Store links and system requirements sit in platforms. Official Discord, Steam, and publisher channels are collected on links.

This is not an official Codex. The in-game Codex under the title-screen menu remains the complete list of unlocked units, items, Indulgences, cell effects, enemies, and Curses. Use these guides to interpret that list, not to replace it.

If you only read three pages, make them Getting Started, grid and positioning, and the unit tier list. Shoppers who want a buyer’s filter should open the launch review. Everything else is a specialist follow-up for the moment your current board stops making sense.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for the current ritual.

Which Order Automatica guide should I open first?

Open Getting Started before anything else, then grid and positioning as soon as you lose a fight you thought was free.

Do these guides cover console and mobile?

Yes. Rules are the same on every platform. Button maps and Steam Deck notes are in Controls, and store links are in platforms.

Where is the unit list?

Rankings live in the unit tier list. The in-game Codex is still the complete unlock tracker.

Is Order Automatica multiplayer?

No. It is single-player. The enemy grid is an opposing ritual, not another human.

Is the game worth buying?

The launch review covers value, the difficulty spike, and who should skip the $5.99 ritual.
